Version 2.6 Release Notes

This major update contains the following new features and fixes:

1. Common

   1. A Recharge Voucher option has been added to allow students to purchase a voucher then update their own balance via the windows or web clients.

   2. Gaia Administration has been updated to add all the new functions included in other modules. Many minor and cosmetic changes.

   3. When the services start, any log files greater than 1MB are renamed to .old and a new log started.

   4. The Web Administration module has been renamed to GPWebAdmin.exe.

2. Printing

   1. A new option has been added to require the user to confirm each job using the client.

   2. A new option has been added to delay the client popup until the job has been analysed so the full details and cost can be displayed before the user selects a department to charge or confirms printing of the job.

   3. The job cost is now shown in the notification for a failed job.

   4. 4 more paper sizes are supported.

3. Internet

   1. A major new feature has been added for use with ISA 2004 to allow you to maintain a list of Internet domains and/or URLs that are always allowed or always denied regardless of balance.

   2. ISA 2004 logging to MSDE is now supported.

4. Clients

   1. A new web client has been provided that allows users to perform an account inquiry, enter a recharge voucher, transfer funds between balances and change their copier PIN. This new client (GPWebClient.exe) replaces the previous separate balance inquiry (GPBalCgi.exe) and PIN change (GPPinCgi.exe) modules.

   2. Administration and Client web pages have been improved with the addition of images from the new Images folder.

   3. The windows client has been enhanced to provide inquiry, recharge voucher, PIN change and transfer functions.

   4. The windows client now has a help file.

Version 2.6.1 Update released 8-Apr-2005

1. Fixed Allocation of Recharge Vouchers via the client service.

2. Fixed Back button on web inquiry.

3. Fixed ISA 2000 deny rule when no users are to be denied.

4. Fixed an issue where users with a zero balance had their jobs cancelled immediately even if they were set to select a department to charge.

Version 2.6.2 Update released 26-Apr-2005

1. Removed duplicate client traffic and improved reception of client messages on wireless networks

2. Fixed error 53 in client when replying to test messages from Administration

Version 2.6.3 Update released 8-Jun-2005

1. Fixed the Transfer option in the Gaia Client where negative amounts could be transferred by clicking the down arrow on the spin box.

2. Fixed detection of colour jobs in PCL6 when job set for Grayscale.

3. Fixed multiple copy count for Kyocera 9000 series printers using PCL6.

4. Fixed creating and updating of the deny rule in ISA 2000 where sometimes the rule couldn't be seen or reported an error in ISA management. The rule is now removed when no users are to be denied.

5. Added more logging of group changes in the Net Monitor log.

6. Added an ISA2000.log file in the database folder for all ISA 2000 rule updates.

Version 2.6.4 Update released 29-Jun-2005

1. Fixed Client Service for retries on database updates if errors are encountered.

2. Fixed international currency symbol in Print Client.

3. Fixed Net Monitor Service to update groups only when user has add or remove set.

4. Fixed Net Monitor Service where updating of ISA rules could be very slow or not always occur if the database was accessed through a share.

5. Fixed Net Monitor Service to correctly charge TCP_MISS codes in Squid logs.

Version 2.6.5 Update released 22-Jul-2005

1. Fixed detection of job attributes for some RAW spool files.

2. Fixed colour detection in PCL6 for some Xerox Document Centre models.

3. Fixed importing users from a text file where group not set.

4. Fixed importing users from another domain where the full name was not being set.

Version 2.6.6 Update released 12-Aug-2005

1. Fixed detection and counting of NT EMF 1.003 format jobs on NT4.

2. Fixed updating of ISA rules when scheduled adjustments are applied by the print service instead of the net service.

Version 2.6.7 Update released 5-Sep-2005

1. Changed the product's registry key after it was reported as spyware and deleted by Microsoft AntiSpyware (Beta), causing the services to fail to start. All versions prior to V2.6.7 are vulnerable and we strongly recommend you do not run the MS AntiSpyware on any server with Gaia installed until you upgrade. See the FAQ for more information.

2. Fixed authentication in the release station.

3. Fixed handing multiple encoded spaces in user names logged by Squid.
