Version 3.0 Release Notes
Required Maintenance Date: 01-Jun-2006

This major update contains the following new features and fixes:

  1. Database

    1. The database will automatically be updated when Administration is first run.

    2. New fields have been added for print copies, colour pages and workstation name.

  2. Web Interfaces have been completely revised

    1. The web Client and Administration interfaces are now implemented as ASP pages and COM objects.

    2. The installer creates a Gaia virtual web folder accessed by http://localhost/gaia

    3. The previous CGI programs have been removed.

  3. Printing

    1. The Zenographics IMF host based language (as used by HP 2600n and HP 1022, Minolta and others) is now supported.

    2. A new option has been added to automatically delete duplicate print jobs submitted within a short period.

    3. The workstation submitting the job is now logged.

  4. Internet

    1. New Tools menu option to update the Internet allow/deny status.

    2. The last workstation used by each user each day is now logged.

  5. Administration

    1. Most table browse windows are now larger to show more columns at the default size.

    2. Refunds now allow you to select multiple jobs to roll up into a single refund.

    3. Various cosmetic changes.

    4. Departments can now be imported in the Infinity Law format.

    5. Transactions can be exported in the Infinity Law format.

  6. Windows Client

    1. Information messages like cancelled jobs, low balance etc now use a popup balloon from the system tray for Windows 2000/XP/2003.

    2. The list boxes for print jobs, net usage and current jobs can now be sorted by clicking on the column headings.

  7. Installation

    1. The single MSI installer now provides options for Typical, Minimum and Custom installs. Typical installs the full package including Administration, charging services and the web interface. Minimum installs only Administration and the charging services.

    2. The previous exe installer and the separate web interface installer have been removed.

Version 3.0.1 Update released 21-Jul-2006

  1. Fixed detection of an older spool format used by some Zenographics print drivers.

  2. Fixed importing of allowed/denied web sites.

  3. Added a new report of print jobs per department and user with more selection options.

  4. Removed excessive logging of errors when updating windows groups causing net charging to be slow.

  5. Fixed installer where registry keys for event viewer were not created correctly.

  6. When upgrading from V3.0.x you longer have to un-install the previous version first.

Version 3.0.2 Update released 29-Aug-2006

  1. Security update for Recharge Vouchers. The Windows and Web Clients no longer need access to Recharge Vouchers, so all customers using Vouchers should immediately change the windows permissions on files Voucher.tps and VBatch.tps to deny access to all non-administrative users.

  2. Fixed charging of some Postscript jobs where pages were counted correctly but not charged. Typically these were from graphics applications like Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Photo Editor and occasionally Internet Explorer.

  3. Fixed charging via the client where in some obscure circumstances the user could be charged twice.

  4. Fixed a condition where the monitored printer could be set as the output printer creating a loop and causing multiple charging.

  5. Fixed balance adjustment via web administration where an incorrect and truncated error message was sometimes returned.

  6. Changed net charging to update users less frequently to reduce database access time on busy servers.

  7. Changed net charging where some users were not updated in a Windows group and an error like "Could not find domain controller for this domain" was reported in the log.

  8. Some minor cosmetic changes in Administration.

  9. This release updates V3.0.0 or V3.0.1.

Version 3.0.3 Update released 14-Sep-2006

  1. Fixed Web Admin where:

    1. The Entered By user for a Receipt was recorded as the administrator account and not the person who was logged on.

    2. Fixed a problem where a transaction could be applied twice.

  2. Fixed the Department Transactions by User report where the page break per department occurred regardless of the option setting.

  3. Fixed colour detection in some Postscript jobs where jobs were detected as colour even when Grayscale was set in the driver.

  4. Fixed updating of the ISA 2004 allowed and denied web sites list.

  5. This release updates any V3.0.x.

Version 3.0.4 Update released 2-Oct-2006

  1. Fixed the client service where it sometimes used 100% CPU.

  2. This release updates any V3.0.x.
